Halloween Meetup Turnout! 10/07

There was an awesome turn out at the meetup this year! Lots of puppies, adults, humans, and so much delicious food! Unfortunately it was a bit chilly, but we did have a fire going for the humans, and warm food as well! We had 3 huge winner's baskets for the contest, and lots of goodie bags!

Next year we have plans to make it even better!

I didn't take as many pics as usual, because I was putting my full heart into hosting! Who knew it was such a tiring job? But man, was it a blast! Hope to see all of you again next year, and always happy to meet new friends, too! We'll shoot for a July one again, next year, as well. Check out Stardust Silkens on Facebook to see some photos!

(Until I am able to get them uploaded on the website!)

Halloween Meetup! 10/07

Saturday, October 7, 2023 is the date of our meetup! We are only allowing Silken Windhounds this year, but any and all humans are welcome to attend, meet the breed, and make friends. Please see the event here on Facebook! If you get a ticket (free!) through there, you can get the address, or you can reach out to our email! (It is a residence, so we do not want to list it openly.)

There will be a puppy costume contest with 3 prize baskets, worth well over $100, food (potluck style!), Halloween music, Halloween movies, and good friends! Even goodie bags for you to take home with/for your pups!

Hope to see you there!

Michigan Renaissance Festival 09/23

Saturday, September 23, we visited the Michigan Renaissance Festival! Of course, I forgot to bring cards, but it was such a joy to be there and experience the bustling city of medieval events - music, ice cream, turkey legs, pickles, dancing, and more! The boys got to enjoy some delicious ice cream, gifted to us by the ice cream shop and a woman who's toddler didn't finish their ice cream. We of course, had a bit of access issue in the beginning, but nowhere near as bad as last year. Things were a lot more organized and we got to see multiple lovely friends! Until next year!

Cider Mill Fun!

We've been visiting Cider Mills - and for those not in Michigan, you may not know what that is! Often they have apple cider, donuts (cinnamon and plain), corn mazes, hay rides, and other pleasant fall-themed events. You can buy pumpkins and have a good time. Our favorite one is not pet-friendly, so we only brought Sage and Maestro, as they are task-trained Service Dogs. It's been a joy, and a great training opportunity for both of them, but especially Maestro.

Sugar got Spayed 04/27

Sugar is happily spayed as of April 27, 2023. She handled anesthetic, and staying overnight at the vet 2 nights in a row so incredibly well- she received nothing but praise from the vet techs. We missed her so much and recovery is going well. With her super cute recovery spay suit, Sugar just wants to run and play already.. but is being a good girl and resting. She's going to be taking it easy for a week or two and now she will not have to go through heats and all that it entails any longer.

Update 05/04/23 - Sugar's incision has healed beautifully!

Outdoorama 02/25

Seven and I attended the Outdoorama/Home and Garden show in Novi, Michigan last month with Sage and Maestro. There, Maestro got to socialize and become desensitized to crowds, loud noises, and the general chaos of an expo. We hope to have him attend Youmacon 2024, so this was wonderful practice. So many people thought his Umbreon dye were natural markings, and the two boys were wonderful ambassadors for the breed. We did SO much breed PR for one day and I was very excited to see HuntChef there.

Creative Dog Grooming 02/23

Maestro got a new dye job by Seven, who is a Dog Groomer. He is dyed to look like Umbreon from Pokemon. He looks absolutely stunning, and I'm both amused and excited to say most of the general public seem to think they are natural markings. We have had a few people recognize the dye too (as a Pokemon), which is awesome.

Kentucky 02/18

Seven and Leo went to Kentucky to have a little vacation with Seven's family, who enjoy rock climbing. This was Leo's first time, but not Seven's, and all three of the main Stardust Silkens went - Sage, Maestro, and Sugar. We visited Lexington and went hiking in the Red River Gorge. It was a blast and I look forward to seeing it again.

Whitmore Lake 02/4-02/05

This past weekend, I attended a UKC show where multiple Silken Windhounds were being shown. I was lucky enough, and so grateful, to be given the opportunity to show a beautiful Silken Windhound, Fletch.

It was such a great experience that I was absolutely terrified for, but I am so grateful for. I showed 5 times- and on the 4th time, Fletch won the Champion class! I look forward to being able to do this more and be able to show this amazing breed.
